Prevention Services

Touchstone Behavioral Health offers a variety of programs under our Prevention Services.

Direct Behavioral Health Services:
Treatment Services: Behavioral Health Aides

Our Behavioral Health Aides are skilled in providing direct services to our families either in the home or out in the community. Touchstone Behavioral Health prides itself on working together to achieve success, so with that, our Behavioral Health Aides work very closely with the Child and Family Team members. Our focus is to help the child and family with behavior coaching, living skills, parenting skills, in-home respite, and crisis intervention. We are very knowledgeable about resources in our community and can provide our families with the tools they need to become successful.

Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program (TPPP)

Touchstone Behavioral Health's Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program (TPPP) focuses on reducing teen pregnancies and other high-risk sexual behaviors of youth, ages 13-18, in the Maryvale community of Phoenix. TPPP implements two evidence-based program models proven effective in increasing the healthy behaviors that prevent teen pregnancy. Groups are held in schools, community centers, faith based organizations, and other community locations. Additionally, youth who are identified as requiring additional services or assistance will be referred to a TPPP Interventionist, who will aid youth in getting the resources needed. TPPP engages in community outreach, creates partnerships and maintains the Local Advisory Committee whose aim is to increase sustainability and support for the program. TPPP also offers community workshops that focus on helping parents/guardians learn how to effectively talk to their youth about sex and making healthy choices. These workshops are offered in the community upon request. TPPP is funded by a grant through the Office of Adolescent Health, Department of Health and Human Services. Grant #1TPIAH000006-01-00.

Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities

Touchstone Behavioral Health, the lead applicant, has partnered with Phoenix Union High School District (PUHSD) to apply to the Governor's Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities Title IV Grant Program. The problem or issue to be addressed by the collaborative project is adolescent (age 14-18) and parent/caregiver substance abuse involving 'high-need' youth from PUHSD, targeting first and second time juvenile offenders for substance abuse and violence-related infractions; students at-risk of educational failure, suspension/expulsion or dropping out of school; refugee students from war-torn Africa and Iraq; and others. The overarching goal of the project is to effectively reduce risk factors and build protective factors related to youth substance abuse and violence and provide the basis for a safe, supportive and respectful learning environment.

Drug Free Communities (DFC)

The Isaac Anti-Drug Community Coalition/TBH was awarded a five-year, $125,000 per year Drug Free Communities Support Program 2010 grant by the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The Coalition services the Isaac Community, an urban area with a population of approximately 68,000 located in Phoenix,   The goals of the Coalition are to: (1) establish and strengthen collaboration among the Isaac Anti-Drug Community Coalition's partner organizations in support of the community's effort to prevent and reduce substance use among youth; and (2) reduce substance use among youth in the Isaac Community in Phoenix and, over time, reduce substance abuse among adults by addressing the community issues that increase the risk of substance abuse, and promoting the factors that minimize the risk of substance abuse.

Touchstone Community Development Project (TCDP)

The Touchstone Community Development Project (TCDP), funded by Magellan Health Services/Arizona Department of Health Services, provides comprehensive prevention programming to address underage drinking in the Maryvale community of West Phoenix.  TCDP is part of the C.O.P.E. Coalition, whose mission is to develop a coalition of residents, businesses and community institutions to create an environment free of drugs for Maryvale youth.  TCDP uses the Strategic Prevention Framework, developed by the Federal government, to provide a community outreach program that addresses the needs, barriers and strengths of the Maryvale area.  This involves collaboration with block watches, schools, faith based organizations and other key entities to develop and strengthen existing resources. The TCDP is currently implementing community education workshops, media campaign activities, merchant trainings, Youth Council projects and community/environmental activities for the residents in Maryvale. In addition, TCDP offers fee-for -ervice programs including Life Skills classes for 3rd-12th grade students using evidence-based curricula, peer leadership programs, student assemblies, parenting classes, and community education workshops.
